Camp Counsellor

Duration :

June 17 to August 20, 2021 

Responsibilities :

  • Supervise a group of 10 to 12 children from 8 to 16 years of age (with another counsellor).
  • Lead English-language workshops for a group of 5-6 campers of the same age group (will be covered in staff training).
  • Accompany 10 to 12 campers with the outdoor instructor in outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
  • Develop, animate and participate as a team in camp activities and play team sports with the campers.

N.B. Ratios could be modified depending on public health guidelines on COVID-19.

Prerequisites :

  • 18 years of age and over.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), good comprehension of French.
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages in an outdoor setting.
  • Mature, responsible, motivated, creative, team-oriented, and energetic.
  • Have a valid first aid certification.
  • Experience in tutoring, coaching or teaching as well as any special skills like dancing, music, arts, outdoors sports would be an asset.

Compensation :

$540 / week including food and board. Previous experience will be taken into consideration in salary offer.


Camp Lifeguard 

Duration :

June 17 to August 20, 2021

Responsibilities :

  • Lifeguard: Supervise and ensure the security of swimmers at the lake for a period of 2 to 3 hours per day.
  • Make a regular detailed account of swimmers in the water
  • Initiate water games with the help of camp counsellors
  • Take charge and animate a conversation workshop of 5 campers.
  • Elaborate, animate and participate in camp activities and play team sport with the campers.

Prerequisites :

  • 18 years of age and over.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), good comprehension of French.
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages in an outdoor setting.
  • Mature, responsible, motivated, creative, team oriented, energetic.
  • Lifeguard prerequisites: Have an up-to-date national lifeguard certification for pool given by the Canadian Lifeguard Association. A lifeguard-waterfront/beach certification would be an asset.
  • Have a valid first aid certification.
  • Experience as a lifeguard and in at least one of the different outdoor activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking would be an asset.

Compensation :

550$/week. Previous experience will be taken into consideration. Includes meals and lodging. A two-day waterfront beach certification (or re-certification) by a professional is part of the training (one weekend in June).


Camp Outdoor Instructors

Duration :

June 12 to August 20, 2021

Responsibilities :

  • Lead campers and counsellors during canoe-camping trips and trekking trips of 2 and 3 days.
  • In camping, responsible for safety, food planning, equipment and animation, with the assistance of counsellors. At camp, responsible for camp fire, animation and equipment.
  • Accompany campers and counsellors in day trip activities such as canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking. Responsible for training campers in those activities.
  • Responsible for good maintenance of outdoor equipment such as mountain bikes, canoes and rock climbing equipment.

Prerequisites :

  • 18 years of age and over.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), good comprehension of French.
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages in an outdoor setting.
  • Mature, responsible, motivated, creative, team oriented, energetic with animator’s qualities.
  • Have a valid first aid certification.
  • Experience in at least one of these fields: canoeing, rock-climbing, mountain biking. Special skills like (bicycle maintenance, environmental knowledge, outdoor sports, survival skills, music) would be an asset.

Compensation :

Starting at 550$/ week including training, room and board. Previous outdoor instructor experience will be taken into consideration in salary offer. Rock climbing certification (or re-certification) is part of the training.


Associate Counsellor

A job opportunity for young adults 17 and up who want to improve their English skills while working at camp!  

Duration:

June 17 to August 20, 2021. Training in the kitchen and in camp animation is in included in these dates.

Job description:

  • Follow a conversational workshop of 2 hours, 5 times a week to improve one’s English competencies.
  • Act as junior counsellor between kitchen shifts. Will assist in the animation of conversational workshops for campers and assist in certain outdoor activities, will participate in night games and help during bedtime.
  • During the day, either:
    • kitchen work (3 hours/day): help prepare a meal and snack, serve a meal, clean the trays and wash dishes (automatic dishwasher), clean tables after a meal, empty the bins and clean the floor of the kitchen.
      or
    • cleaning and upkeep (3 hours/day): sweep the cabins/washrooms/cafeteria, clean the counters/sinks/bathrooms/door handles/mirror, clean the washroom floors.

Prerequisites:

  • 17 years of age and over.
  • Have a basic foundation in English (not necessarily bilingual).
  • Required qualities: disciplined, mature, having initiative, respectful, punctual, good humor and enjoy working with kids.
  • Respect the dress code and sanitary requirements of the camp.
  • Have a valid first aid certification

Compensation:

500$/week. Includes meals and lodging.


Assistant Cook 

Duration :

June 17 to August 20, 2021

Responsibilities :

  • Every morning, meet with the chef to establish tasks of the day.
  • Follow the chef’s instruction.
  • Help prepare/serve meals and snacks on established schedule.
  • Make sure the kitchen and cafeteria is clean at all times.

Prerequisites :

  • 8 years of age and over.
  • Secondary 5 or studies in cooking school.
  • Able to serve and speak English to campers.
  • Qualities needed: disciplined, mature, respectful, punctual and like kids.
  • Respect dressing code, rules and sanitary regulation at camp.
  • Experience in a kitchen is an asset.

Compensation :

40 hours a week. Salary to be discussed.


Kitchen Helper / Dishwasher

Duration :

June 17 to August 20, 2021

Responsibilities :

  • Meet with cook every day to establish tasks of the day.
  • Help prepare and serve meals and snacks.
  • Clean tables after each meal, empty garbage and clean kitchen and cafeteria’s floor every day.
  • Clean trays and dishes (automatic dishwasher available).

Prerequisites :

  • 16 years of age and over.
  • Able to serve and speak English to campers is a plus.
  • Qualities needed: disciplined, mature, respectful, punctual, good humour and enjoy working with kids.
  • Experience in a kitchen is an asset.
  • Respect dress code, rules and sanitary regulation at camp.
